BREINIGSVILLE, Pa – A sea of lights, shining bright for a cause.
“I don’t think we’ll ever stop until we find a cure,” said walker, Patricia Meyers
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society holding its annual Light the Night Walk, an event shedding light on the dark impact of blood cancers.
“I was diagnosed when I was two years old,” said Willie Rodriguez.
Rodriguez is a leukemia survivor, he’s beat the disease multiple times and received a bone marrow transplant, but he knows not everyone is so lucky.
His older sister passed away from the same disease when she was just a teenager.
Rodriguez is the honored hero at the event, sharing his story in front of hundreds, all bonded by a common enemy.
“My father was diagnosed in August and we lost him this past Tuesday,” said walker, Kelly Nichols.
Gold lanterns are in honor of someone that has passed from a blood cancer, white is in honor of a survivor, and then red is in support of.
No matter the lantern color, no matter the story, each participant at the Light the Night Walk shares the same goal, to raise money and awareness in an effort to find a cure.
All the money raised goes to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
